BRUNEI Press Sdn Bhd is in the process of digitalising old newspaper archives to offer easy access to past news and historical moments since the establishment of the company which publishes the leading local newspaper in the Sultanate.
This was stated by Reggie See, the General Manager of Brunei Press, during an introductory visit by delegates from the Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Defence (MinDef), led by Major Muhammad Kassim bin Awg Yusof, who is also the new MinDef spokesman.
The delegates were first shown a film documenting Borneo Bulletin’s 60-year history, as well as the historical events in the country. It covered the discovery of oil to the advancement of Brunei’s energy industry, Brunei’s independence in 1984 and developments until now.
The delegates then toured the Editorial Department where they were shown copies of old newspapers from the archives, including the first publication of the Borneo Bulletin.
The delegates then moved to the production and publishing area to get a closer look at the machines and technologies used in printing the newspapers.
Before concluding the visit, the delegates took a group photo with Reggie See against the backdrop of Borneo Bulletin front pages over the decades.
