IN CONJUNCTION with this year’s World AIDS Day, the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) has partnered with Brunei Press to highlight and increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS through World AIDS Day quizzes.
According to a press release from JPMC, these quizzes will be published in both Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata. The quizzes will have a total of eight questions with direct true or false answers.
The quizzes will be featured on these respective dates, November 22, 25 and 29 and December 1, for Borneo Bulletin and November 27 for Media Permata. Participants may send the answered cut-outs to Brunei Press’s Head Office at Lot 8 and 11, Perindustrian Beribi II, Gadong, BE 1118.
Ten lucky winners will be drawn and receive goodie bags from JPMC worth B$150, which includes a one-month free membership at JPMC’s Fitness Centre, one voucher for 20 per cent discount on selected treatments or services available in JPMC and one voucher for 10 per cent discounts on any purchases at the JPMC Pharmacy.
JPMC staff members have started wearing red ribbons to mark the upcoming World AIDS Day where wearing a red ribbon is the simplest and practical way to communicate the message on the awareness of the disease.
Marketing Officer of JPMC, Ak Danny Pg Tajuddin, noted that the red ribbon represents a long-lasting symbol of support for World AIDS Day and their initiative in selling the red ribbons aims to increase the awareness of the disease and use it as a medium to educate the public on the event.
The red ribbons, which have been on sale since November 26, are available at a price of only B$2 to visitors, patients and staff of JPMC and can be purchased at any of the counters at JPMC until December 8.
All proceeds from the sale will be channelled to the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAC) to support their programmes on AIDS Awareness talks and activities. The World AIDS Day Campaign is initiated by JPMC and supported by Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, Borneo Bulletin, Media Permata and JPMC Fitness Centre.
