IN CONJUNCTION with its 60th anniversary, Brunei Press Sdn Bhd in collaboration with RIPAS Blood Donation Centre organised a blood donation campaign at its CPS building at Beribi Industries yesterday.
The campaign also served as an answer to the call by RIPAS Blood Bank for the private sector to organise more blood donation campaigns and include such activity as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
Meanwhile, like others, Brunei Press also strongly believes in giving back to the community.
Blood Donation Supervisor, Hj Matusop Hj Daud, who led the team of 12 medical staff from the Blood Donation Centre and medical officer, Dr Nang, noted that this year has been another encouraging year as more companies from the private sector had come forward to answer their call for more blood donors.
However, with the increasing number of donors, the demand for blood supplies are also increasing as 40-50 pints of blood is required per day for patients at RIPAS Hospital alone, while the centre still has to meet the demands from hospitals in Tutong, Belait and Temburong Districts.
On this note, he once again call for more donors from the private sector as well as members of the public to come to the centre during office hours to donate, especially for those aged 18 years and above, as those of much senior age are mostly on medication and are not permitted to donate their blood.
